Is it Wrong that I Love This?

I love books. I particularly love the idea of seeing the books I've written on the front table in my local book shop. Is it wrong that I want a Sony e-reader?

In England, we are denied the digital charms of the Kindle but the e-reader is an ever-present temptation. This one has yet to be released but the one after which I pine is chained up in my local Waterstones. It has a leather cover. I will never surrender my bookcases but I would love one of these. Am I alone?

  1. I'm really enchanted with the idea of the Kindle, but it got a really bad review in a recent New Yorker. That cooled my ardor, but I'm still wistful.

  2. No idea when Kindle will be here. Have also read mixed reviews. A bit shocked that they were able to steal back '1984' from people's Kindles after they bought the book(but the irony is delicious).

  3. You are so not alone. I do not have a Kindle yet but I know plenty that do & it practically never leaves their side. The Sony version looks terrific. Hopefully we can have the best of both worlds?!

  4. I've been wondering if I should break down and get one.

  5. Kindle sucks - believe me. Every kindle sold means one or more less books published.

  6. I'm on the fence. There's something wonderful about looking up at the library shelves and seeing all the titles, dust jackets, gilt. And I like the feel of a book, turning the pages, snapping it shut, hauling it around. I could see an ereader sort of thing for travel, maybe.
